She has also completed a communication training course. She spent a number of years working for the Immigration and Naturalisation service where she was an intercultural advisor and trainer. This provided her with a wealth of experience in coping with cultural differences in a business environment. There she developed a specialisation on Afghanistan and the countries of former Yugoslavia. She worked as a project leader in Morocco for a development organisation on intercultural and international projects. This gave her the opportunity to experience a working atmosphere and practices of a vast number of cultures who were involved in the project. As such she travelled extensively within Europe, the Middle East, Far-East and South America. Itim’s work in the field of intercultural management provides Barbara with the opportunity to put her qualifications, languages and intercultural management skills to excellent use for the benefit of international organisations. Since joining itim she has been involved in several intercultural assignments for multinational companies like Nike, Lyondell, ABB Lummus, TSM Business School, Canon. In addition to her native language Dutch, Barbara speaks English and German. Feedback on the performances describes her as an experienced, enthusiastic, dedicated and knowledgeable trainer who’s aiming at tailoring and delivering programs to meet participant’s expectations.
