Contact Information

Since 2006 Gigi de Groot is the managing director of itim International. In 1996 she started to work as a manager for itim’s office in The Hague, The Netherlands, and soon after became its chief operations officer. Having a master’s degree in international relations and a huge interest in other cultures, she quickly picked up the impact of itim’s activities. She fell in love with the organisation and the intercultural management field!

After a short break, when she moved to Stockholm in Sweden, she opened the itim Sweden office in 2002. Whereas in the past she was amongst others responsible for the development of intercultural management course programmes and all the contacts from the head office with clients and local offices all over the world, she now focused on making the international Swedish companies more aware of the importance of culture. In 2006 she became itim international’s managing director, being responsible for the itim-group in over 20 countries and with around 60 consultants worldwide.

She helped companies such as Accenture, Bombardier, Philips, The Dutch Ministry of Internal Affairs, TietoEnator, KPMG and many more on intercultural management issues. But also organisations such as the Swiss Tropical Institute, Livstycket and Swedish high schools where the focus is on cooperation and communication in a multicultural society. Being Dutch and having lived and worked before in Finland and since the end of 2001 in Sweden her special interest are cultural differences and similarities between the Netherlands and the Nordic countries.

Gigi is one of the founders of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Sweden where she currently holds a board position. Gigi speaks fluent Dutch, English and Swedish, and has a fair understanding of German and French. She is also a member of SIETAR, the Society for Intercultural Training, Education and Research.
