Hans Peter Frei was born in the mountainous region of Switzerland in 1945. A strong interest in other cultures was the main reason for leaving Switzerland after completing his studies. With a technical background and a degree as a mechanical engineer, Tanzania (East Africa) was a dream country to put his skills into practice. Working there as a project manager convinced him that it is not enough to deal with technical matters only. His experience in East Africa resulted in a higher understanding of different cultures, languages and methods.
Upon returning to Switzerland, he completed a degree in Economics and worked for several years in the tobacco business. He ran a factory with workers from 14 different nations. In the mid Nineties he was the General Manager of tobacco company in Indonesia.
At the end of the nineties he established his own consulting company in Switzerland. Next to intercultural management his specialization is quality management. Very often, the customer realises that setting procedures and rules is not enough. In 2003, Hans Peter joined itim as our license holder in Switzerland.
Hans Peter loves mountain sports like climbing and skiing. He speaks
fluent German and English and has a fair understanding of French.
