In 2006, while writing a proposal for her master thesis, Marleen discovered the work of Geert Hofstede and itim. Her interest in cultural differences and itim’s work, combined with studying International Relations, resulted in an application for an internship at itim’s headquarters in Stockholm.
During this internship Marleen not only got familiar with the day-to-day running of the itim-group, she also conducted research on Globalization and Culture. Because Marleen had a background in economics as well, she was able to combine economic theories with Hofstede’s theory and could impress her professors with a creative and multi-disciplinary master thesis!
When she moved to Sweden in 2007 she started working as Operations Officer at itim International’s office in Stockholm. Marleen speaks Dutch and English fluently and has a basic knowledge of German, French and Swedish. In her spare time she loves reading and ballet.
