Marleen Dekker is a certified consultant in Intercultural Management and works for itim International since 2007. Since discovering the work of Geert Hofstede and itim, she has been able to combine her interests in cultural dynamics with her ambition to help others in unlocking their potential across cultures. Marleen has a master degree in International Relations with a specialization in Multinational Organisations. After her studies, Marleen built up experience in the event industry, as well as market research. At the beginning of her itim-career she was amongst others responsible for the development of intercultural management course programmes and all the contacts from the head office with clients and local offices all over the world. Nowadays she also focuses on making international organisations more aware of the importance of culture. Apart from intercultural management, Marleen’s areas of expertise include sales, customer service, project and event management. Since joining itim, Marleen has been a member of itim International’s key account management team, co-creating and delivering cross-cultural competence programmes for companies like Fortum, Unilever, Tieto, Cargill, Roxar and others. Marleen speaks Dutch and English fluently, has a good knowledge of the Swedish language and speaks basic German and French. She is certified in the Intercultural Readiness Check (IRC) and is also a member of SIETAR, the Society for Intercultural Training, Education and Research.
