Masako Kato is a consultant for Ideas4 in the Netherlands. Ideas4 is a consultancy active in the field of intercultural management and organizational dynamics. She was born in Tokyo and raised in Nagoya Japan. Her first encounter with another culture came early in life when she lived in the USA as a two year old girl. Although she has no memory of her stay in the United States, her parents brought "the American way of life" back to Japan and the foreign guests to their home stimulated Masako’s interest in intercultural aspects of life. Masako holds a B.A. in Political Science from the Elmira College in NY, USA, a B.A. in American Studies from the Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan, and a M.A: in International Relations from the Sophia University in Tokyo. Masako started her working career as an international congress organiser in Tokyo. After moving to the Netherlands she worked for 16 years for Fuji Photo Film in Tilburg, the Netherlands. At Fuji she covered a wide range of positions from interpreter, expatriates services and facility manager to communication adviser. During this period Masako gained extensive experience and knowledge in the field of human resource management, intercultural management and organisational culture. Although Masako works often for Japanese and Western clients to help improve their communication and cooperation, her intercultural knowledge exceeds the borders of Japan, which makes her a well equiped specialist in the field of culture and management. In addition to her native Japanese, she is fluent in English and Dutch.
