Talis A. Martinez is a certified consultant in Intercultural Management and works for itim America since 2003. She has been a key note speaker on topics of Intercultural and Ethical Leadership. Talis has also been a co-trainer in itim America’s open seminars as well as in Cross-Cultural Competence seminars for the US Air Force University. She is a part of itim America’s program development team, co-creating cross-cultural competence programs for companies like: Accenture, Merck, The NBA, Experian, LexisNexis, Jafra, GM, Mondi Packaging, UT-Austin, etc. She coauthored the article "The Challenges of Virtual Teams and Key Strategies for Success. Sharing goals beyond time, space and culture" published on the monthly journal of the IABC, and is currently writing a book for people with multicultural and expatriated background titled "Citizens of the world; A practical guide for those who belong almost everywhere but nowhere really". Talis has also worked as the executive assistant for the CEO of two international companies in the M&A and Regional Integration sectors. As an international entrepreneur, Talis is the co-founder and director for Multideporte Internacional SA de CV, and has co-created a franchise in the food industry. She has worked in family owned businesses since age 11 when she began one of Mexico’s first children radio talk-shows. She has a BA in Sociology with a minor in Business from the University of Texas at Austin and is currently studying a Masters in Strategic Prospective at the EGAP (Public Administation School of the Tecnológico de Monterrey). Her major interests are intercultural leadership and the potential that cultural integration/understanding has in the success of international and regional development projects. Talis is a world-class athlete, in 2005 she won for Mexico the Mexican, US and Pan-American Duathlon Elite Championships and finished 7th overall in that year’s Duathlon World Championships (2nd U-23). She was also an All-American cross country runner for the University of Texas at Austin. Talis was born and raised in Mexico and lived in the USA for 7 years. She is fluent in English and Spanish. Her other passions include: Co-founding 2 non-profit organizations (one in Mexico and one in the USA) in the areas of ethical leadership, regional development and the end of world hunger; and playing guitar.
